The Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team Working Group has no intention of sitting idle while they await approval from the Ministry of Health on their OHT application.
Instead, Working Group Co-Chair Dana Howes says they will continue to move forward with their Ontario Health Team creation plans.
This includes ongoing collaboration with various health care and related partners as well as continuing efforts to engage with stakeholder and members of the general public.
As a means of strengthening communication between partners and the public, the Working Group has just launched their own Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team website.
The website www.greybruceoht.ca will serve as a platform where supporters and core members can easily access Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team information.
Howes says they wanted to create equitability in accessing information so everyone can be informed on all of the developments related to the Ontario Health Team.
As part of The People's Health Care Act the Province is making significant changes to the current health care system through the creation of Ontario Health Teams.
Ontario Health Teams are being introduced to provide a new way of organizing and delivering services in local communities.
Through this model, Howes says groups of health care providers will work together as a team to deliver a full and coordinated continuum of care for patients, even if they are not in the same organization or physical location.
As part of the Readiness Assessment Plan submitted to the Province, the Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team Working Group has identified two key areas of focus for their first year of operation.
They are: Frail Seniors and Mental Health and Addictions.
