OPP are investigating an altercation that occurred after two dogs were reportedly left in a vehicle in Orillia.
Wednesday just before 6 pm, a couple were at a Front Street North business when they saw two dogs in a vehicle.
The concerned citizens waited for a bit and then removed the dogs and put them into an air-conditioned vehicle.
When the dogs’ owners returned and discovered their pets had been removed, a verbal and physical altercation ensued. The owners then left the area and police started their investigation
If anyone has any info about the incident contact Orillia OPP.
Police remind that leaving a dog in a car is a contentious issue wherever you go. People are aware of the dangers of leaving a living being in a hot vehicle where the windows are not open or the vehicle air conditioning is not on to cool the animal.
Owners of animals left in vehicles without proper ventilation could face fines, which, in Orillia, is $490.
In the extreme case where an animal dies or is in dire need of medical attention, owners could face animal cruelty charges.
