Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire. “
The 2019 Saugeen Shores Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is coming up on Thursday May 9th.
The Selection committee received more than 20 submissions this year and settled on 4 nominees for induction, names that are and have been very prominent in the community of Saugeen Shores.
Alphabetically;
Shelley Bellamy will be inducted as a Builder for her coaching and tireless promotion of the Special Olympics program in the community.
Kelly Gribbons is a multi sport athlete, and will be inducted for her performances in women’s hockey. Gribbons was a member of the Silver Medal winning Canadian entry at the 2017 World University Winter Games,
I can’t remember where I first encountered Randy Millar, but it was a long time ago, and deservedly, Randy will be inducted a Builder for coaching track & field where in recent years his athletes have posted terrific results in the javelin, discus & shot put.
And finally, Becky Smith-Hull will be inducted as an Athlete for being a National Junior Track & Field champion along with a solid career at the NCAA level.
Shelley Bellamy, Kelly Gribbons, Randy Millar & Becky Smith-Hull will be honoured at the 2019 Saugeen Shores Hall of Fame induction evening Thursday May 9th in the Rotary Hall at the Plex in Port Elgin.
I’m Fred Wallace
