Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
The National Hockey League Playoffs begin tonight.
I don’t want to say, ‘ Who Cares ? ‘, but with the level of entertainment being generated by the Ontario Hockey League Playoffs………..well, ‘ Who Cares ? ‘.
Tonight in Owen Sound, the Attack & the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds resume their OHL Western Conference Semifinal.
By virtue of wins in Game 1 & Game 3, the Attack lead the best of 7; 2 games to 1.
Owen Sound is coming off what looks like a resounding 6-2 victory in Game 3 Monday night on home ice, but the margin of victory doesn’t tell a balanced story.
Make no mistake, the Greyhounds can generate opportunities and in Monday’s game, had they sunk one or two on their power play opportunities, possibly a different outcome.
Possibly.
Of course, Owen Sound can justifiably say had they scored in overtime in Game 2 at Sault Ste Marie, we might be looking at a stunning 3-0 lead for the Attack.
But Games 1,2 & 3 are in the past and what truly matters is a pivotal Game 4 tonight.
If the Greyhounds win, we’re right back to square one in a tied series.
IF the Attack hold on home ice and win this evening…………
Game 4 goes tonight at 7 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
As for the NHL Playoffs that open tonight, ‘ Who Cares ? ‘.
I’m Fred Wallace
