Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
It’s a big weekend for the town of Saugeen Shores as the 2nd annual Huron Bruce Easter Seals Celebrity Hockey Classic will be conducted today and tomorrow.
Former NHL’ers will be in the community for a variety of activities and functions.
Among the highlights today will be a ” Skate with the Greats ” at the Plex, an initiative that is somewhat Port Elgin-centric, that is, it’s being tested here for success.
Plus, the draft of the tournament teams, each headed by an ex-NHL’er, is at the Queen’s Hotel tonight.
Saturday, the tournament will be conducted with the highlight event taking place at noon when the top local fundraisers for Easter Seals suiting up for a game against the former NHL’ers.
Last year’s event was very successful as the residents of Saugeen Shores exhibited a true understanding of the challenge and needs for supporting a disabled youngster.
The goal for this weekend is to generate $ 100,000 for Easter Seals Ontario, which is a massive total no question, but a target that will allow Easter Seals to have this one MAJOR event in Saugeen Shores on an annual basis and not perpetually conducting fundraisers in the community and region
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
