The 7th annual Bayshore Race was staged Sunday under conditions that ranged from cloudy to misty to hot to rain, just an additional challenge to the runners and walkers who participated in the various divisions.
The Half Marathon winner was Mitchell Belford of Wasaga Beach in 1 hour 16 minutes and 21 seconds.
Janet Gamble from Owen Sound won the women’s half marathon in an hour 25
In the 10K division, the gender winners were Tracey Hebert of Owen Sound and Aaron Manning from Toronto
For the 10K Power Walk, Tracy Parkin of Owen Sound was the women’s winner while the men’s category was won by Rainer Moeller from Toronto
There was a 5K Race which was taken by Mike Konstantopoulos from Toronto while Olivia Karn of Coldwater won the women’s 5K
Finally in the youngsters 1K Fun Run, Luke House of Owen Sound won in 4 minutes & 5 seconds while Olivia Nairn of Owen Sound finished 2 seconds later.
Overall, this year’s Bayshore Race attracted almost 400 participants and most significantly generated in excess of $37,000 for women’s health initiatives at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
We’ll see what’s new for the Bayshore Race in 2017.
