Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Ontario Hockey League season gets rolling in Owen Sound today with the opening of the Attack Rookie Camp
Close to 40 newcomers, including first rounder Aidan Dudas, will compete over 2 days with a dozen or slightly youngsters earning an invite to the Main Camp which begins Wednesday.
Among the players to watch come Main Camp will be European import Maxim Sushko who arrived in the city on Friday along with overage candidate Justin Brack.
Brack has been a solid performer from the get-go in Owen Sound but he did suffer an injury during lacrosse season with the Orangeville Jr B Northmen that raised some concern.
You might remember earlier this month, I relayed information that was seeping around the league about Owen Sound’s desire to add a gifted youngster, first by the acquisition of draft picks and then flipping those picks for a upper tier player.
No picks have arrived in Owen Sound this month, soooooooo I can only assume…………………..no blockbuster is on the trade horizon.
However, having said that, I think a number of scenarios around the league bear watching.
From what’s being said;
– Will Bitten in Flint wants to go to Ottawa and apparently only Ottawa
– Underage Kirill Nizhnikov is reportedly going to ” no-show ” at Mississauga ( guess who his agent is )
+ Netminder Dylan Wells may do likewise at Peterborough.
Welcome to OHL Hockey season in Owen Sound
I’m Fred Wallace
