Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
We’re at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound this morning as the Softball Canada Under 16 or Bantam Tournament is set to commence at 9 am.
Backtracking just a bit, the official Welcome Banquet was staged last night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre and featured excellent presentations by Matt Wardrop and Stephen Mullaley among others.
As mentioned the 5 day-8 team tournament begins at 9 with the Kitchener-Waterloo Twins facing the Crown Vacuum Astros from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
And while the opening games are obviously significant, Game 3 of the tournament at 11 am promises to be a dandy with the Belmore Sting set to oppose the OASA Bantam Champion and host team- the Shallow Lake McComb Sting
Play runs all day today with 9 games plus the opening ceremonies are set for 5 pm this afternoon, just prior to the Sting’s second game of the tournament when they face Prince Albert.
We’ll have updates throughout the day and a detailed report following the 5 pm news today
Hope to see you at Duncan McLellan Park.
I’m Fred Wallace
