A busy sequence of lacrosse action commences tonight in Owen Sound with the Coldwell Banker Junior NorthStars hosting Guelph.
Tonight’s game is the first of 4 in succession for the Junior and Senior NorthStars on home floor, all which carry a great deal of significance.
The Junior NorthStars have 6 points on the season and their games tonight against Guelph and Saturday afternoon against Hamilton could very well represent their last stab at a playoff berth for 2016.
Owen Sound is 6 points back of Guelph, with 2 less games played for 2nd place in the Midwest, and also 6 points back of Hamilton who hold down the first wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Junior NorthStars have not made the playoffs since 2010 and a tumble on home floor tonight and Saturday will virtually assure another miss of the post season.
Meanwhile, the Senior NorthStars are tied in points with Brooklin for 2nd in the Ontario Senior Division heading to the weekend.
Owen Sound will be at home Saturday night at 7 and Sunday afternoon at 2 against the Ennismore James Gang who are 2 & 4 on the year.
While not as crucial as the Junior games, the Senior Stars have a chance to pull away on Wallaceburg, Oakville and especially Ennismore and virtually guarantee a top 3 finish with a successful weekend.
