Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic…the Logical Choice.
The Memorial Cup starts tonight at Red Deer and the NHL Final Four continues with Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay.
Watching the Sharks and Blues last night, I wondered which Ontario Hockey League organization has sent the most players to the NHL Conference Finals ?
So I did a quick tabulation aligning each OHL grad to the club I’d suggest he’s most connected with.
For example, in the case of Alex Pietrangelo I assigned him to Niagara rather than Barrie.
Furthermore, I only tabulated the players who were dressed for the 4 NHL teams over the last two games, which in essence bushwhacked Sarnia with Steven Stamkos injured and both Michael Haley and Nikolay Goldobin as roster players but not game participants.
Nevertheless, the answer to the original query is…..the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds; Matt Murray and Trevor Daley with Pittsburgh and Joe Thornton at San Jose.
The Owen Sound Platers-Attack contributed one player to the Final 4- Joel Ward, which is an irony unto itself as Ward was never drafted by an NHL team from Owen Sound, but rather had to weave his way through the CIS and free agent signings to get there.
Enjoy the hockey. Enjoy the long Weekend.
