Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Toronto Raptors advanced in the NBA Playoffs last night defeating the Indiana Pacers 89-84 in the 7th and deciding game of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.
No question, the series victory is significant for the Toronto franchise who won a playoff series for the first time in 15 YEARS !! FIFTEEN YEARS !!!
I found it interesting that following the game, Toronto coach Dwane Casey immediately launched into a speech admonishing the ” experts ” who essentially wrote the Raptors off from the get-go.
I like Dwane Casey and I fully understand the concept here- Toronto’s playoff history is less than epic and in Casey’s view, too many pundits dismissed the Raptors in spite of their surge through the past 3 years.
Fair enough.
But let’s be honest, the Raptors series win was far from convincing for a # 2 seed.
– They lost the opener at home.
– They didn’t display a killer instinct when they went up 2-1
– They needed a massive comeback to survive in Game 5.
– And they were defeated soundly in Game 6 to send the series to the deciding game.
No matter for coach Casey. He truly hopes the pundits write Toronto off again starting tomorrow night when they host Miami in Round 2.
I’m Fred Wallace
