Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
When I moved to Owen Sound, I was overjoyed to find a Recreational Baseball League in the city.
Overjoyed because, put quite simply, I couldn’t hit a softball. A baseball I always managed to make contact with; but softball, for whatever reason, was a mystery to me as a batter.
Nevertheless, before discovering golf, I played 4 or 5 years in the baseball league at Tom Williams Park.
Last week, a concerned citizen alerted me to a meeting this week where the future of Tom Williams Park would be discussed.
According to the caller, the Owen Sound Men’s Slo Pitch League has proposed that Tom Williams Park be altered for Slo Pitch, and as part of the proposed revision, the pitching mound would be eliminated and the grass infield would be converted to dirt.
It’s been more than 25 years since I’ve had a bat or glove in my hand, but if you feel strongly about a baseball facility remaining in the city, you’re advised to make your views known at the Community Committee meeting tomorrow
I’m Fred Wallace
