Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic……the Logical Choice.
The 2016 Canadian Senior Broomball Championships concluded Saturday in Owen Sound
The 3 divisional champions were the Ottawa Nationals, the Huskies and Mislead.
Within the city of Owen Sound, the sport of broomball had a terrific 4 day showcase.
Will it lead to heightened numbers in terms of participation ? Maybe, maybe not, but what was exhibited was very good, fast, exciting and most of all it looks like great fun.
Could the tournament have been better ? Of course it could, but almost every upgrade I can think of has nothing to do with the local organizing committee who ran a virtually seamless event.
Will the Canadians return to Owen Sound some time in the future ? That’s a very good question.
The sense I get is that it’s more likely that the Provincials will be in the city and region again before the Nationals are discussed again.
And the rationale is understandable.
The Provincials attract more teams and more people and all of that is good on many levels.
Still, after a 4 day glut of broomball, I think I’m going to miss the Phantoms, the Rookies, the Nationals, the Women and the Mixed teams who competed last week at the 2016 Canadian Senior Broomball Championships in Owen Sound
I’m Fred Wallace
