Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
Well, I’m hooked
I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a Broomball game in my life….yesterday I saw 6.
The Canadian Senior Broomball Championships opened in Owen Sound with play at both the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre and at the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre.
Of note in the Elite Men’s Division, the Kilsyth Phantoms won their opener 2-1 over the Bisons and then followed with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Palmerston Rookies in double overtime. Great game- tough loss.
Today is a huge day for the Phantoms as they play 3 times at the Bayshore; this morning at 9:05, this afternoon at 3:05 and then conclude Day 2 with a game at 9:10 pm.
The other team that has a heavy local flavour, the Heads or Tails Coed team, went 0 & 2 on the opening day, losing a narrow 3-2 decision to Broom Shak in the morning and then falling 3-1 in the afternoon to Mislead who moved to 2 & 0 with the victory.
The Heads or Tails team will be back in action at 4:10 this afternoon when they face MLF from the East at 4:10 at the Rec Centre.
The playoffs are set for tomorrow afternoon, so what goes down today will have a huge bearing on who goes where for the Championship Round.
Like I said, I’m hooked.
I’m Fred Wallace
