Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
One of the all time great lessons I learned in elementary school was ” Things Are Not Always As They Appear. “
It’s a funny story that takes too long to explain, but Reverend Frost did an excellent job delivering the message during his weekly half hour session with our Grade 8 class some 43 years ago.
Nevertheless, I got thinking about Reverend Frost and the message this week with the Ontario Hockey League regular season drawing to a close.
It’s not unusual for a playoff opponent to be undetermined at this stage of the game, but in this season, the appearances have been deceiving.
For the longest time, it looked like the Attack would line up with Kitchener; but the Rangers fell from 3rd to 4th in the Western Conference.
Then with the Sault Greyhounds and the Attack swapping spots, seemingly on a nightly basis, it appeared the Attack would meet Windsor- but the Spitfires toppled down the ladder, bypassed by surging Sarnia.
Tonight, if London wins at Flint ( and they should ! ), the Attack would be lined up with Erie for the first round.
But all of that could change.
London as it stands now.
Erie if the Knights bypass the Otters.
And should Sault Ste Marie rally to pass the Attack, then Sarnia.
Reverend Frost was right; things are not always as they appear.
I’m Fred Wallace
