Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire brought to you by your local Auto Logic…the Logical Choice.
Owen Sound native Adam Jones has established a new record in the National Lacrosse League.
Over the weekend, Jones, who plays for the Colorado Mammoth, set the NLL record for most consecutive games with a goal.
Saturday against the New England Black Wolves, Jones scored his first of the night to make it 56 straight games with a goal.
56 !!
That’s the same iconic number in baseball for consecutive games with a hit held, likely forever, by Joe Dimaggio.
Somewhat ironically, in setting the new mark, Jones bypassed his Colorado teammate, John Grant Jr, who held the previous mark of 55 straight games with a goal.
For good measure on Saturday night, Jones added 5 more goals for Colorado to give the Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse grad a ” sock trick “, the lacrosse term for a 6 goal game, and it was much needed in a narrow 14-13 win over New England.
Over the course of his 56 game streak, Jones has scored 153 times which includes 22 hat tricks and four games with the ” sock trick “
The Jones streak which began in April of 2012 against the Edmonton Rush, could be extended this Saturday at Calgary when the Mammoth who have 4 straight visit the Roughnecks.
I’m Fred Wallace
