Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic…the Logical Choice.
The Owen Sound Attack play their third straight Wednesday home game tonight when they host the Niagara IceDogs at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
This game has all kinds of interesting levels.
First of all, it will be interesting to see the mental and physical toughness of the IceDogs.
Like the crew from Gilligan’s Island, the IceDogs set out last week for a 2 game road trip, the OHL’s version of a 3 hour cruise.
But the trip got complicated at Ottawa when the rink wasn’t suitable for play, so the IceDogs have gone from St Catharines to Ottawa to Kingston, lost, back to Ottawa Monday night for the makeup game, home to St Catharines, had a bite to eat and are heading to Owen Sound today.
Next, we’ll be watching to see if Owen Sound can clinch a playoff spot tonight and/or move into 6th place in the Western Conference.
If the Attack win tonight and Flint fails to pick up 2 points, or if the Attack loses in extra time and Flint loses in regulation, the Attack will clinch their playoff berth.
But with the Attack and Greyhounds tied for 6th in the Conference, Owen Sound may actually be rooting for Flint to stay alive tonight by beating the Greyhounds which would give Owen Sound the opportunity to move ahead of the Sault.
A lot of scenarios unfold tonight at 7 when the Attack host Niagara at the JD McArthur Arena.
I’m Fred Wallace
