Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic- the Logical Choice.
The community of Saugeen Shores was active last weekend, the Winterhawks tribute to the Sunocos and the fundraiser for the Liv-A-Little campaign among the highlights.
Looking ahead to this weekend in the community and several surrounding communities, a number of venues will be utilized for the annual Girls Silver Stick Tournament known also as the Caitlyn Cobean Memorial.
Forty teams in various age divisions will compete in this year’s tournament which will see games staged at Paisley, at Tiverton, at the Southampton Coliseum and at the Plex in Port Elgin where the climatic Championship games will be played.
If the Caitlyn Cobean Tournament wasn’t big enough, the affair gets magnified by the presence of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada which will have a live broadcast segment from the community.
Plus, as a further spotlight for the community and Girls Hockey, there will be a CWHL game Saturday afternoon at 4 pm at the Plex pitting the Toronto Fury against the Boston Blades.
Last weekend was a busy one in Saugeen Shores…this coming weekend with Hockey Day, the CWHL and the Caitlyn Cobean Tournament might be even more active.
I’m Fred Wallace
