Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
One of the delightful moments of this hockey season took place at St Catharines last month when former Owen Sound Plater Ryan Christie stopped by to say, ” hello. “
Christie is now heavily immersed in the family dairy business based in Beamsville, the 4th generation of the Christie family to operate the business which has a 70 year history and counting.
Ryan Christie played 3 seasons for the Owen Sound Platers from 1995-98 and was a fierce competitor and a very productive goal scorer.
All time, he’s 9th in career goals for Owen Sound with 91 and I got thinking if there was ever a player who scored 23 or more goals in every season with the Platers or the Attack as Christie did.
To the best of my research, the answer is, no.
Bobby Ryan got 22 or more in all 4 years here, but not 23. You could argue that since Christie did not play as an underage, Ryan’s numbers are superior, or more remarkable- fair enough.
But look at the Owen Sound Top 10 in goal scoring and you’ll see that none of Wes Goldie, Andrew Brunette, Jason MacDonald, Jimmy Brown, Joey Hishon, Cameron Brace or Kirk Maltby ever scored as consistently as Ryan Christie did.
I’m Fred Wallace
