The Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group released the details of the annual Josh Olynyk Memorial Sick Shot Road Hockey Tournament last week.
The 6th annual 4 on 4 road hockey tournament will be conducted in the parking lot at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre on Family Day, February 15th.
The tournament is a great holiday activity for youngsters, and for families, combining a number of positive factors most notably a positive fresh-air outdoor activity.
Traditionally, the money raised through the tournament is directed to the Initiation Program for the Minor Hockey Group; a program that offers the youngest children in the city and region the opportunity to experience hockey for the first time, and hopefully develop a lifelong relationship, similar to the relationship Josh Olynyk had with the sport.
” Sick Shot, Sick Shot, Sick Shot “- those were the last words uttered by Josh Olynyk in 2009.
Seven years later the legacy from those final words are very visible for the 2016 Four-on-Four Road Hockey Tournament next month and conceivably for many years ahead.
