I want to start 2016 by welcoming the 2015 Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame inductees.
The Class of 2015, in order of votes received, will be Jack, Steve, and Jeff- The Hanson Brothers, along with golfer Happy Gilmore and plus Charlestown Chiefs player-coach Reggie Dunlop.
These 5 inductees will be joined by contributors, Mr. Miyagi and Carl Spackler.
This year’s class is ” Slap Shot ” heavy which is a departure from the initial year of the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame when it was all baseball; Ricky ” Wild Thing ” Vaughn, Crash Davis and Roy Hobbs plus, the great boxer, Rocky Balboa made the grade in Year 1.
These fictional athletes were elected through a process of a year-long online vote, which started with over 300 Preliminary Candidates
When I look at the inductees for the first two years, I laugh and smile and remember great movie moments.
I also note that most of these inductees were Minor Leaguers, oddballs, long shots and yet terrific stories.
Terrific stories that now exist in the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame as we re-launch the process for 2016.
