Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Owen Sound Ice Hawks staged a terrific Showcase Sunday recently, a day in which 5 Ice Hawk teams in various age divisions arranged to have hockey games against a variety of opponents.
On every level, the day was a success, starting with the on ice play where every Owen Sound team won their game, almost all of which were very close.
The lone exception was the Novice game, but at that age, a lot can change between the start and the end of a hockey season, so a Saugeen Shores-Ice Hawks rematch might be tighter as time goes on.
Aside from the on-ice success, the event was good for the city on a couple of levels.
First, ice time was booked from noon through 6 pm and in a rarity, the Ice Hawks teams played in one location, consecutively, back to back to back to back to back.
Plus, the opponents came from Oakville, Georgetown, Orillia and Bruce County which is always good for the region.
Five games, five age groups, probably 150 girls playing hockey and great results for the Ice Hawks organization- that’s a successful Showcase.
I’m Fred Wallace
