You can count me among those who weren’t brokenhearted to see Ronda Rousey lose her UFC Bantamweight title a week ago.
Rousey didn’t just lose to Holly Holm in Australia, she was tuned.
Holm used a sequence of lefts to batter Rousey’s face, a smoking elbow in another case to the head and then ended it with a kick to the noggin that dropped Rousey….just the way I hoped it would go.
Make no mistake, I fully understand how talented Rousey is at mixed martial arts- I respect that.
I understand a rematch is pending, and I respect that Rousey has earned that opportunity
And I also fully understand how vital she was in bringing women’s combat in the UFC from no chance to the forefront- I respect that too.
But what I could never respect with Ronda Rousey was the attitude, essentially the level of disrespect she showed so often to her opponents, almost all of whom she steamrolled in the Octagon.
Which is probably why I like the UFC……
No matter what kind of knob you are; Brock Lesnar, Michael Bisping, Josh Koscheck in the beginning, and Ronda Rousey, eventually somebody, somewhere, sometime catches you and the result is never pretty.
