Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
If this is deja vu for the St Mary’s Mustangs Football team, they’re happy to be a part of it on one hand, but want NO part of it on the other.
The Mustangs will meet Centennial Secondary tonight at Alumni Stadium at the University of Guelph in the CWOSSA Football Quarterfinal.
To get back to the CWOSSA round, St Mary’s authored a marvellous post season run to claim their second straight Bluewater Football League Championship.
After a 3rd place finish in the regular season, the Mustangs promptly scored shutout victories on the ” road ” at OSCVI in the semifinal and then at West Hill in the Championship Final.
That’s impressive !!
But the Mustangs want no part of history repeating itself, certainly not after their initial trip to the CWOSSA Playdowns a year ago when they were battered.
With reflection, St Mary’s staff concedes last year’s first ever Bluewater title gave them a ” happy-to-here ” attitude and may have contributed at a lopsided 34-3 defeat at the hands of the Our Lady of Lourdes Crusaders.
But this is a different year, a different opponent, a different Mustangs approach and they hope a vastly different result.
I’m Fred Wallace
