Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Thanksgiving Weekend is here which means Friday Night Lights with the Grey Cup at OSCVI, the Attack are at Guelph in the OHL, the Grey Highlands Bravehearts are holding a foodraising game in Markdale, plus the WOAA Senior Hockey League opening games including the Durham Thundercats in Shallow Lake to meet the Crushers, are tonight.
And into the mix comes….fastball
The Owen Sound Fastpitch Association has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2016 Canadian U16 Championship which is for Bantam aged players.
The dates for the National Championship have been established; August 10th to 14th at Duncan McLellan Park.
The U16 tournament is the latest Softball Canada Championship to be awarded to Owen Sound.
In a span of a decade and a half, Owen Sound has hosted the National Women’s Championship, the National Men’s Championship twice, the National Junior Championship Tournament at least 4 times and now the Bantams are coming our way.
That’s not to say there isn’t massive work to be done.
Who will be the host team ?
Will Owen Sound have a Bantam team ?
Will Owen Sound have an O.A.S.A. Elimination Tournament prior to the National Championship ?
We’ll see what unfolds, but the most significant note heading into a busy holiday weekend is that Owen Sound will be the site for another National Fastball Championship event in 2016.
I’m Fred Wallace
