Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the logical choice.
Skier Larisa Yurkiw is back in the region, returning from a European based training junket and about to hit the gym on a daily basis as she continues to prepare for the World Cup season ahead.
Our topics of discussion were pretty obvious, but then we deviated into a new initiative she’s involved with, called ” Brave Badges “.
Brave Badges are designed for skiers who did something ” brave ” on the slopes.
By that, the concept is to reward a skier who took a chance on themselves, believed in their ability and inner strength, plus worked hard to overcome what normally would have been a personal or competitive obstacle or challenge.
A Brave Badge, isn’t for the fastest skier, the best skier, the most improved skier, but rather it’s a reward for making the effort, for staying with it, and continuing the quest to perpetually make progress.
Larisa noted that Brave Badges aren’t restricted to skiers alone, but could be implemented into any number of youth sports and organizations.
Anyone interested in brave badges for their organization can email larisaracing@gmail.com for the package.
We lose youngsters participating in sports and group activities- sometimes simply because they may feel their efforts are not good enough, or never will be good enough.
A Brave Badge might be the timely incentive a youngster needs to stay with it, in the short term and forever.
I’m Fred Wallace
