Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the logical choice.
I have a feeling this will be a banner year for local curling, certainly the enthusiasm displayed at the organizational level is quite high.
In the last week, the annual Port Elgin SuperSpiel confirmed their event date, November 20th-22nd and indicated their stated goal of a 24 rink tournament is already half filled.
SuperSpiel is the perfect primer for the upcoming competitive season regardless of whether you’re in men’s, ladies, mixed, senior or junior play.
Next, the Blue Water Curling Club had their annual meeting and sign-up last Thursday.
This year marks a vastly new look for Blue Water with Fraser Wilson, the unofficial ” owner ” of the club, stepping aside.
I ran into Fraser not that long ago and he’s confident new blood will be good blood for Blue Water going forward.
And finally, tonight at 7 in Tara, the organizational meeting for the Grey Bruce Major League will be staged.
That league usually commences in early November, and like SuperSpiel, hopes to have a solid number of entries to maintain a longstanding reputation of quality competitive curling to run through the Winter.
I’m Fred Wallace
