Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the logical choice.
Owen Sound Grey Motors United were scheduled to conclude their debut season in the Ontario Soccer League tonight when they were slotted to host the Aurora Hearts at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
The game has been cancelled; Aurora announced they would not be showing and thus, Grey Motors gets the win by forfeit.
A victory in the Ontario Soccer League is worth 3 points and so with the walk-over, Grey Motors United moved up to 14 points which raises all kinds of questions about playoff positions and relegation for 2016.
No question, the forfeit by Aurora is bothersome to the Owen Sound side who have always been reliable no matter what league and what season, a trait of accountability that carried into their first year in the OSL. In soccer, Owen Sound shows, always have.
What might be more bothersome to Owen Sound is 3 losses by a 1 goal margin that prevented them from being higher in the Central region standings.
Imagine if those 3 games had of been ties, or better yet, reversed results in favor of Grey Motors…..
The Owen Sound side is disappointed by the Aurora No-Show and to a certain extent, by the seasonal record. But for a first year in a higher level of competition, Grey Motors always showed and showed they belong.
I’m Fred Wallace
