Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
I’m a little behind on this, thanks to Lacrosse Playoffs, Field Lacrosse Championships, Grey Motors United and a massive vacancy in the coaching staff for the Owen Sound Attack.
However, it’s worth noting that among all of those activities and more in the last week, the 20th annual Jeff Preston Celebrity Classic at Saugeen Golf Club more than held its own in terms of significant events.
The 2015 tournament conducted by the Port Elgin Rotary Club generated $ 25,000 for muscular dystrophy research.
That total was matched by Jesse’s Journey, making the total for the day $ 50,000.
That’s a very good day !!
I also want to take a second, truly too short of a time period, to thank the Port Elgin Rotarians for presenting a Paul Harris Fellow to me.
I understand fully how significant this honour is in the world of Rotary and in the world at large, and I’m very grateful for the designation.
Furthermore, to have the presentation read by Bruce Giles, and the welcome handshake come from Doug Gowanlock, heightened the experience since both Bruce and Doug represent the very best of community spirit, and have for as long as I’ve known them.
In a week filled with big events and major stories, the 20th annual Jeff Preston Tournament will remain as a solid memory for years to come.
I’m Fred Wallace
