Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Here’s a heads up to the parents and guardians of youngsters in the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group.
The number of youngsters who will play House League in the Novice and Atom Divisions this year is projected to be low.
There’s a number of factors here, and truthfully I don’t want to spend time, or waste time, on them, electing instead to stick with the bottom line- the number of participants for those two divisions is expected to be low.
So low, that options and alternatives are being explored, which is why I want to send a message to the adults connected to the players.
Sometime in July, I anticipate there will be an Open Meeting specifically designed to hear the thoughts of the parents and guardians.
– Do you want a reduced House League with less than 4 teams in an age division ?
– Would you consider a 4 on 4, or 3 on 3 format ?
– Would you accept the formation of a Local League entry, be it in the Georgian Bay League or the WOAA loop ?
– And would travel to games outside of the city be acceptable ?
These are ideas that are kicking around; ideas the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group is willing to investigate; ideas and directions they may need to accept based on reduced numbers for participants.
So sometime this month, as an adult connected to youth hockey, you may receive an e-mail and an invitation to let Minor Hockey know exactly what you think.
I’m Fred Wallace
