Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
These heading-into-the-weekend comments are simplistic to write.
There’s so much going on, it’s unfair to mention just one.
And by the time you run down the biggies, the time has expired.
Here we go;…………………………
We’ve already mentioned this week the OASA Junior Elimination Tournament at Duncan McLellan Park
Day 1 commences tonight at 7 and play runs all weekend leading to Sunday’s Championship games.
The top 4 teams from this tournament will advance to the Canadian Championships at Napanee next month.
Elsewhere, the Ontario Provincial Swim Championships are underway in Nepean- they started yesterday.
Henry Pink, Robyn Barnes, Wil Boulter, James Boulter and Joanne Diemert of the Owen Sound Aquatic Club are competing at the meet.
Meanwhile, the National Para-Athletic Championships are in Edmonton
They too commenced yesterday and run through the weekend.
From the Saugeen Track & Field Club Rick Carr, Josh Farrell, Harry Mattiussi and Andy Shaw are scheduled to compete.
Saturday and Sunday mark the final home games of the regular season for the Owen Sound NorthStars in Senior Lacrosse.
Tomorrow night at 7, the NorthStars host Six Nations Rivermen.
Then Sunday afternoon at 4, the NorthStars will host Wallaceburg
The NorthStars, who had an exciting 6-6 tie with St Catharines last weekend, conclude the season next weekend at Ennismore when they meet the James Gang in a doubleheader
Finally, at the races, the Survivor Series begins tomorrow night at Hanover Raceway while the Sauble Speedway card features the Canadian Vintage Modifieds
And just like that, that’s the big events for local sports as we hit the first weekend of July
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
