Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire, brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
It’s a big week, most significantly with Canada Day placed right in the middle of the sequence of days.
Once we get through Canada Day, we have the lone major fastball event of the season in Owen Sound this coming weekend with the Ontario Amateur Junior Elimination Tournament scheduled to be staged at Duncan McLellan Park.
There are 10 teams in the field including the host Owen Sound Selects who play their opening game Friday night at 9 pm against the Alvinston Indians.
Also in the field of ten, from a local standpoint, are the Chatsworth Express who meet Innerkip Friday at 7 pm, and some new-comers, the Saugeen A’s, who face the Napanee Express, also at 7 pm on Friday night.
Play continues Saturday morning at 10 am and there are games every 2 hours afterwards throughout Saturday which will leave just 4 teams standing when play resumes Sunday morning at 10 am.
The top 4 teams from the event will qualify for the Canadian Junior Fastball Championship Tournament which will be hosted in Napanee August 10th to 16th.
Before Napanee though, 10 Ontario teams will battle at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound starting Friday night at 7 pm.
I’m Fred Wallace
