Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off The Wire “…brought to you by Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
For the third time in the past 6 years, the Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup.
The Hawks clinched their most recent title on home ice Monday night by blanking the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 at the United Center to claim the NHL crown in 6 games.
In these parts, the Hawks have a large rooting section connected to former Attack forward Andrew Shaw who after 1 season with the Attack as a 19 year old and half a season in the AHL made the jump to the Blackhawks and now has two Stanley Cups to his credit.
It’s funny, four years ago, the Attack felt Shaw might be better served playing as an overager in Owen Sound then commencing his pro career.
Typically, Shaw plowed ahead and created his own path, a rather direct route to both the NHL and then two Stanley Cup Championships.
It’s also funny that Shaw’s style of play hasn’t impacted his stamina or endurance. He perpetually battles for every inch on the ice, he has to, and yet in spite of that pounding, he presses on.
A big factor in the Lightning defeat was Tampa Bay’s health as Tyler Johnson tried to press on while dealing with an arm injury and netminder Ben Bishop was clearly far below 100 percent healthwise by the end of the series.
The Chicago Blackhawks won the 2015 Stanley Cup and can rightfully claim to be hockey’s best team. In the end, it may also be accurate to say that Andrew Shaw and the Blackhawks were also the healthiest.
I’m Fred Wallace
