Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
With no apologies, I can tell you it’s quite difficult to be excited when your day commences at the hour of the morning that mine does.
Having said that, my eyes flew open last Wednesday when I arrived at the shop, checked the NHL scorers, and saw that Owen Sound Attack grad Joey Hishon had scored for the Colorado Avalanche.
The goal was BIG, no question; A game winner against Nashville, and in my opinion, even larger since it was Hishon’s first NHL marker.
Joey Hishon scored 110 regular season goals in 4 years for the Attack.
He’s 4th all time in career points for the Attack with 255, which doesn’t include the 24 points he put up in the 2011 OHL Playoffs as the Attack won the Robertson Cup.
He was always productive.
Then in the Opening Game of the Memorial Cup Tournament at Mississauga, Hishon was felled by a cheap shot elbow from Kootenay’s Brayden McNabb, a blow that delayed Hishon’s ascent to pro hockey significantly.
Thus, to see Hishon hit the scoreboard last week, was big.
Big for me.
Big for his fan base.
And truthfully, it was big for Joey Hishon…………………………….
First of many NHL goals we hope.
I’m Fred Wallace
