I’ve got admit, the bookies know their stuff.
My guy, Nick Aragua, established the Guelph Storm as the favorite in their Ontario Hockey League Playoff series with the Owen Sound Attack and as a result I had to pay him a bundle of cash.
In making Guelph the series favorite, Nick explained;
– Guelph had home ice
– Guelph won the season series 5-3
– Guelph won the last 4 season series
– Guelph had the most talented player in the series; Robby Fabbri
– Guelph had the player most capable of changing momentum; Tyler Bertuzzi
– & Guelph had a goalie with Memorial Cup experience, whereas neither Owen Sound goalie had won a playoff game prior to the series.
Looking at all of those selling point, Nick was amazingly accurate as they were small to large factors in the outcome, a 4-1 series victory by the Storm.
As I was paying him off, Nick smiled and stated that in his pre-series prediction, he didn’t foresee the Storm scoring two crucial shorthanded goals.
He also didn’t conceive that the Storm would win 4 straight one-goal decisions.
AND he conveniently forgot to mention that in Owen Sound over the last 3 years, including this playoff series, Guelph is 12 & 1 with 3 shootout losses at the JD McArthur Arena.
Nick Aragua laughed, took my money and chuckled, you NEVER had a chance.
