Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Auto Logic…..the Logical Choice !
I can’t speak for the entire calendar year still ahead, but today might very well be the biggest day in local sports for 2015.
Our view is a lengthy one going from OSCVI & West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound where the CWOSSA ” AA ” Boys Basketball tournament concludes and stretching all the way to Bulgaria where Owen Sound’s Larisa Yurkiw is competing in World Cup alpine racing this weekend.
Two kilometres from where I’m sitting, quite likely the best hockey player NOT in the NHL ( yet ), Connor McDavid, is in town for the annual doubleheader between the Erie Otters & the Attack at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore.
Pertaining to McDavid, everything you’ve heard is not hyperbole. He’s THAT good.
And Owen Sound fans get a double dose this weekend with the opener tonight at 7:30 and then the Bears in Blue game tomorrow night also at 7:30 pm.
As a quick note, as the honorary chair for the Bears in Blue game, thank you for the terrific response and support to the game & this campaign.
And finally, we’ve got the Western Junior C Semifinals tonight resuming in Kincardine with Game 6 between the Bulldogs & Wingham.
Wingham leads the best of 7; 3-2 and will be aiming to advance to the League Championship against Walkerton with a win tonight.
The Bulldogs, with a victory tonight, can force Game 7 tomorrow back in Wingham.
There’s a lot more on the go this weekend, so enjoy today, what might be the most significant day on the 2015 local sporting calendar.
I’m Fred Wallace
