How close are we to Spring ?
According to Wiarton Willie just 3 weeks ago, we were heading for an ” early ” Spring.
And it’s not that I don’t trust the rodent, it’s just that the blast of arctic air recently made me somewhat sceptical of the Bruce Peninsula Swami.
Still, there’s a faction of folks who will not be dismayed and are racing full blast towards the next sporting season.
The most notable from that segment are the operators of Full Throttle Motor Speedway just South of Durham.
Gord Bennett of Full Throttle confirmed recently that the track fully intends to be operational on Saturday March 21st for opening night…….March 21st !!
That’s ambitious.
Bennett relates ” The Sprint Into Spring-Enduro ” at Full Throttle will be a terrific launch to their 2015 season.
Among he highlights is a ” Run What You Brung ” format which encourages drivers to bring their own car & equipment, and the race winner will receive a new $ 35,000 race car.
That’s an incentive.
Admission to the ” Sprint Into Spring ” is free but food bank donations will be gratefully accepted.
And if the weather isn’t conducive to racing in 25 days, I’d assume they’d have a Groundhog barbeque to commemorate the ” late ” Spring.
