Roller Hockey doesn’t have an exceptionally high profile in these parts, but that may change in short order.
I had a great chat last week with Paul Hauck of the Bruce County Roller Hockey Association who are in the process of acquiring an upgraded roller hockey floor or court.
Currently, the sport is conducted out of Walkerton, but with the Community Centre hosting many events through the Spring & Summer, Roller Hockey gets bumped.
The goal is to acquire a used floor, which is an expensive endeavour, made a little more realistic by a kind donation from the Power Workers Union.
Next, the floor will be installed on a permanent basis at a venue somewhere in Bruce County- maybe Paisley, maybe elsewhere.
The point is with an upgraded court, it will provide more opportunity for local players, a better opportunity for roller hockey to host tournaments and should create a significant upswing in participation which may alter the Bruce County Roller Hockey League into something much larger.
