When the curling season gets rocking, it’s seemingly non-stop.
Already, admittedly early in the season, both the Port Elgin Superspiel and the Markdale Cashspiel have been successfully staged.
Meshed with that are a number of Zone & Regional events now concluded.
Tyler Twining of Blue Water in Owen Sound has skipped a rink representing Paris, Ontario into the Ontario Junior Men’s Championship next month at Galt.
Of note, at the Masters Men’s playdown at Meaford last weekend, the Dave Cobean rink from Port Elgin was among those earning a berth to the Provincial Championships next month in Stirling.
Meanwhile, tonight is another night in the Ackert-Solomon Insurance Grey-Bruce Major Curling League with games at Port Elgin & at Tara.
After Doubleheader Sunday, there are 3 rinks; Jeff Thomson, Don Bartley & Al Hutchinson sitting at 5 & 1 atop the standings
Thomson & Bartley have matches in Port Elgin tonight while Hutchinson plays his match in Tara against Tom Slumskie
Finally. looking ahead, the Zone 11 playdowns for both the Tankard & the Scotties Tournament of Hearts are set for this weekend, again in Meaford.
Of note, the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be hosted by the Penetanguishene Curling Club January 19th to the 25th
The Ontario Men’s Tankard runs February 2nd to the 8th near London.
