The Knights of Meaford are at Alliston tonight to face the Coyotes in Greater Metro Junior Hockey League action.
The Knights overhauled their operation last week at the mid-season point in the biggest way possible
The ownership structure changed.
A new General Manager was put in place.
& the original coach of the franchise returned along with the trainer.
Most of the alterations centred around the departure of the Fish Brothers; Michael & Brian, who served as owner & GM in the case of Michael and Head Coach in the case of Brian.
The impetus for the massive changes were a 3 & 18 record on the ice and a reported refusal of the team to board the bus for a road game some 10 days ago.
In my view, both Michael & Brian Fish were sincere young guys who only and always had the best intentions for the club.
Unfortunately, those intentions created friction in many circles and their was an air of resistance lingering over a poor on-ice product.
In all of this, what stands out is an observation by new General Manager Brian Johnson, who is also a prominent businessman in the community.
Johnson, like many in the town, recognizes the Knights hold significant value for the community, and a better Knights Hockey team and a better Knights organization is better for the town of Meaford.
