Initially this morning, I was going to do a quick thought on the Adrian Peterson suspension by the NFL.
And while I can’t say that I’ve replaced that piece with a bigger story, there’s no doubt today’s content is a better story, far more positive as it pertains to our youngsters.
I spoke yesterday with Jackie Lemon, the President of Owen Sound Girls Hockey.
The Ice Hawks are staging their second annual Showcase Day on Sunday at the JD McArthur Arena.
All the sponsors of Girls Hockey in the city are invited to attend the day and see first-hand exactly what they’re contributing to.
Furthermore, all 5 Ice Hawk entries this year will play a game in sequence starting at 1:15 Sunday afternoon and then progressing through the day.
Girls Ice Hockey in Owen Sound had humble beginnings, no question, but there’s no question they’ve made continual progress and currently offer a variety of programs for girls in the city & region.
The organizers understand the National Women’s League or a berth on the Olympic teams are longshot dreams, but the reality of healthy exercise, friendship making and team building will be fully showcased on Sunday afternoon.
I’m Fred Wallace
