The Owen Sound Attack & London Knights will play a home & home weekend series in the Ontario Hockey League starting tonight at the Budweiser Gardens.
The rematch is set for Saturday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre…………………………..and everybody KNOWS what’s coming next…….
But the numbers do not lie, so here they are;…………….
Head to head, the London Knights have won 19 of the last 20 games……………………………19 of 20 !
The lone blemish for the Knights was February 8th, 2013 when Steven Janes scored twice including the game winner on a late power play.
Sure, the games through the years have been close, but almost as agonizing, London has won 17 of the last 18 games between these teams that have gone to overtime or to shootout for a decision…………………………17 of 18 !!
The last Attack player to win one in extra time for Owen Sound was Kyle McAllister on February 9th…………………2001 !!!
And finally, at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore, London has won 10 straight in Owen Sound……………………10 straight !!!!
Owen Sound’s last win on home ice against London was March 19th, 2011 and if memory serves, it was following that game that the Knights and their media proclaimed the good citizens of Owen Sound had flattened the tires on the Knights team bus delaying their departure.
I can’t say whether the flattened tires claim is accurate or fabricated, but the fact of the matter is the Attack haven’t won against London on home ice since.
