This is a very significant week in Bluewater Athletics.
Yesterday, there was action in both Bluewater South Girls Basketball & Bluewater North Boys Volleyball.
The Boys Volleyball matches were conducted at OSCVI and the big news was in the Junior Division where the West Hill Raiders upset the OSCVI Falcons, swept them in fact.
The Falcons went 8 & 2 to finish first in the regular season, but the Junior Raiders who were 4 & 6 on the year scored the upset; 25-20, 25-16, 25-23.
There was no such upset of the Senior Falcons who swept the Georgian Bay Vikings 3 straight in their playoff matchup.
The Bluewater Girls Basketball Semifinals & Championship games are set for tomorrow at Kincardine District Secondary School, home of the Lady Knights who had perfect regular seasons in both Junior & Senior play.
Finally, on Friday, the Bluewater Football Championship will be staged at Victoria Park as the St Mary’s Mustangs host the West Hill Raiders.
I can’t remember the last time the Championship Game was in Owen Sound, Saugeen District having dominated for most of the last decade, but the 2014 Football Final will halt that streak and add to what is a very big week in Bluewater Athletics.
