Very few athletes face the challenge confronting Owen Sound skier Larisa Yurkiw.
I dare say, very few athletes benefit from that challenge to the degree that Yurkiw does.
Most know the story; dropped by Alpine Canada, Yurkiw refused to accept what many would; that her competitive skiing days were over.
Instead, Yurkiw charged into an ambitious fundraising drive that was needed to support her aspirations of competing in the Olympics & remaining on the World Cup circuit.
As most know, Yurkiw qualified for the Olympics & when I checked last week, she had most of the pieces in place for the upcoming season.
The interesting question for Larisa Yurkiw is, with a year of presentations behind her, is the process easier now ?
She says her pitches are smoother now, but in fairness, the product she’s pitching takes more salesmanship.
The Olympics; everyone understands that.
The World Cup circuit; that needs some explaining.
Regardless, between presentations last week, Yurkiw confirmed she’s scheduled to compete in early December at Lake Louise and then follow with a sequence of major events through the Winter in Europe.
