Is there a season that experiences quicker & wider swings in the weather than Fall ?
It’s warm,….the thermometer drops,…. it’s cold, then wet & windy, then like magic, it warms up, sometimes it’s gorgeous.
For some that’s the beauty of the season.
But for the distance runner, the uncertainty has to be somewhat unsettling, never knowing if the terrain you’ll compete on will be firm or soggy….or worse.
The ultimate run for high school students is Saturday, the annual OFSAA Championship hosted by Waterloo.
From our region, a great deal of attention will be focused on Hannah Woodhouse of Georgian Bay Secondary School in Meaford.
Woodhouse, a member of the Meaford Coyotes Club, won the CWOSSA Senior Girls Championship last week and heads to Waterloo with some momentum.
She’ll also have some company in that division from other Bluewater spots as Olivia Linklater of St Mary’s & Jessie Nusselder who runs for the Saugeen District Royals also qualified for OFSAA
As a testament to our trails and training, Bluewater will be well represented at the OFSAA Championships by some familiar faces who have done well at the local & regional level and now will attempt to beat the best in the biggest event of the season
Here’s hoping for good weather come Saturday in Waterloo
I’m Fred Wallace
