Among the flow of significant hockey news that came down the pipe this week, we also noticed the Grey Bruce Major Curling League released its schedule for the upcoming season.
The League doesn’t have a sponsor…yet…but I think it’s a pretty good investment for any business or company that stretches across Grey & Bruce Counties and is looking for solid exposure over a 3 month period.
There’s 14 rinks entered this year with Major League play commencing on Wednesday November 5th at Walkerton & Chesley.
The Steve Gregg rink of Paisley is the defending champion and will meet Adam Schumacher of Walkerton on opening night.
The cool thing about this league is everybody plays everybody in a true 13 game round robin.
Come February 4th, the top 8 rinks will advance to a sudden death quarterfinal night with the semifinals and finals set for Sunday February 8th.
Over the last few years, the league champion could have been any of a handful of teams and I doubt that will change much this year.
Plus, the league serves as a tremendous primers for players and rinks as they prepare for their various Zone playdowns through the Fall & Winter
November 5th to February 8th, the 2014-15 Grey Bruce Major Curling League runs.
