I went to see my barber last week and before the cutting commenced, Bill the Barber showed me a plastic bag of stuff that was depositied on his front stoop.
Apparently, this random dropping of pictures and articles has mysteriously been ongoing for quite some time.
Nevertheless, for whatever reason the 1983 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection list was in the bag & I found the names on the pages fascinating.
Trevor Steinburg of Brockville went first overall to Guelph.
Also in the 1st round; Al Iafrate & Shayne Corson plus Ed Olczyk who didn’t report to the Marlies.
The 3rd round had the following names; Steve Chiasson, Jim Sandlak, Ray Sheppard & Kay Whitmore plus Nick Kypreos went in the 4th round to Kitchener.
Does anybody remember Howie Attenborough of the Greys- selected by Ottawa in the 9th ?
Tony Fletcher, I certainly remember him, went in the 14th round to Peterborough.
Other names I found interesting because I’ve met them along the road; Mike Vellucci, Craig Billington, Kris King, Doug Kirton, Tim Kaiser, Chip Crandall & Kevin Moore.
My barber has NO idea who’s dropping these goodies off, but by the time I left that barber shop, there were numerous memories provided by the 1983 OHL Priority Selection.
