It’s a great time of the year.
The Baseball Playoffs are in full swing.
There’s football all weekend-every weekend.
Junior Hockey is a month old & the NHL commences on Wednesday.
Plus, the high school calendar for Fall is also packed.
Today at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin, it’s the second day of the CWOSSA Golf Championships.
The Girls went yesterday, today it’s the boy’s competition.
Among the early winners on the high school front is JD West.
Actually, West has departed Walkerton Community School, but before leaving his impact at the school, particularly in basketball, was notable.
And for that influence, West has been awarded the Jordan Fawcett Memorial Scholarship by the Grey-Bruce Association of Basketball Officials.
Not only was JD West a driving force for the Riverhawks in their trip to OFSAA last season at Timmins, he also led clinics in the community and raised the profile of the sport at the school.
While he’s finished schooling at Walkerton Community, JD West is still playing basketball- now at Laurentian University in Sudbury, combining athletics with his course in Sports Administration.
