The Battle of Grey County.
It’s happened before in local hockey, certainly in Minor Hockey, obviously in Senior Hockey, and now the Greater Metro Junior League has their version.
Tonight in Meaford, the brand new Grey Highlands Bravehearts make their debut when they visit the Knights.
Grey Highlands is a shifted franchise, moving from Lefroy last Spring.
The existence in Lefroy started with promise, a 23 win season in 2012, but that was followed by seasons of 4 and 5 wins and led to their relocation in Markdale and their re-incarnation as the Bravehearts.
While the Bravehearts will make their season debut tonight, the Knights will be looking to even their record at 1 & 1.
Meaford lost their season opener & home opener Sunday night 6-4 to the Alliston Coyotes.
A miserable start torpedoed the Knights who gave up the opening goal 29 seconds in and were down 2-0 at the 4 minute mark before playing even the rest of the way.
