Hockey season starts in September.
The Greater Metro Junior League with two Grey County entries plus the Western Junior C League have already completed the opening stages of their season.
Next week at this time, the Owen Sound Attack will open their OHL season when they host Kitchener & away we go.
While hockey gets a huge spotlight, the sport of broomball will enjoy a decent profile this year.
The 2015 Provincial Broomball Championship Tournament will be staged in Owen Sound, hosted by the Kilsyth Phantoms, Titans, Special K’s and Hot Flashes
The tournament which runs March 20th-22nd will feature more than 50 teams in a variety of age divisions competing at the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre & the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Furthermore, the local organizing committee is looking to operate a Juvenile Girls team and a Bantam Boys team this season
Bantam Boys are born in 2000 or later, while Juvenile Girls have birthdates in 1996 or later.
Anyone who would like to play for these entries or get more information on the program or the Championship tournament can contact Ryan Greig at 519-270-2935 or Linda Thomsett at 519-373-2922
It’s hockey season, no question, but Broomball is hoping to share center stage throughout the Fall & Winter.
I’m Fred Wallace
